KHOSLA COMMISSION-CONSPIRACY EXTENDED

Why the commission formed?
Activities of the commission
Voices raised against the commission

WHY THE COMMISSION FORMED?

  • A planned conspiracy to erase Subhas from people's heart via "Shahnawaz Committee" didn't quench the thrist. They wanted to what really happened to their beloved leader.
  • This became more prominent when in 1968, MP Prof Samar Guha came forward & 350 MP unanimously forwarded a memorandum to the President Mr Zakir Hussain .
  • Daughter of Jawaharlal Nehru, Smt Indira Gandhi was Prime Minister at that time. Mr Hussain on 24th may, 1968 wrote a letter to Prof Samar Guha stating that there was no need of any commission on netaji's dissappearance issue.
  • Then luck favoured. In 1969 congress party splitted over the issue of president-ship election. With the help of communists, candidate of Indira Gandhi lost & V V Giri became the president. In the wheel of events V V Giri was affectionated by Netaji. He came forward to organize a new inquiry committee on Netaji.

                                          V V GIRI

ACTIVITIES OF THE COMMISSION:

In 1970, a commission was formed lead by G D Khosla, a retired judge of Punjab High Court which is called "Khosla commission". The commission gave its verdict same as "Shahnawaz commission"-ie  Netaji died on Taihoku plane-crash & the ashes kept in Renkoji Temple is of Netaji.

VOICES  RAISED AGAINST THE COMMISSION:

Regarding impartiality of the commission-the least you say, the better you do.

During the investigative period Khosla worked as a biographer of Indira Gandhi.

At the time of submission of his report Khosla wrote a book called "Last days of Netaji" where he commented various ugly statements about Netaji for which Khosla was hooted in the parliament several times. Though Indira Gandhi praised him highly many times.

Besides these, the commission never visited the foreign sites of importance like Shahnawaz committee.

All these events failed the commission to prove its impartiality.

The epitaph for the Khosla Commision Report as well as its predecessor, was written by former Prime Minister Morarji Desai on August 28, 1978 in the Lok Sabha. He said:

"The Shah Nawaz Committee and the Khosla Commission hold the report of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's death following a plane crash as true. Since then, reasonable doubts have been cast on the correctness in the two reports and various important contradictions in the testimony of the witnesses have been noticed.
Some further contemporary official documentary records have also become available. In the light of those doubts and contradictions and those records, government finds it difficult to accept that the earlier conclusions are decisive."

SHAHNAWAZ COMMITTEE- MASTERSTROKE BY GOVT

  1. Govt's position before forming the committee

  2. Situation forcing govt to form the committee

  3. Activities of the committee

  4. Voices raised against the report

GOVT'S POSITION BEFORE FORMING THE COMMITTEE:

  • Subhasbabu's death though made me sorry but it gave me relief-JAWAHARLAL NEHRU(27th aug,1945 ANANDABAZAR PATRIKA)

  • Bose should be treated as prisoner of war.Because his men killed many Americans & he forcibly collected money from the poor people of Burma and Malay-JAWAHARLAL NEHRU(29th aug, 1945 ANANDABAZAR PATRIKA)

  • I don't have any doubt-not even in past, not presently that Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was dead-JAWAHARLAL NEHRU(5th march,1952 in parliament)

SITUATION FORCING THE GOVT TO FORM THE COMMITTEE:

    • In 1951,23rd jan, on the eve of netaji's birthday Shahnawaz khan said in a speech-I believe that in next year when we will be celebrating Netaji's 56th birth anniversary, he himself will be present among us.(25th jan,1951 ANANDABAZAR PATRIKA)

    •  In1955,29th sep MP Sri Hari Vishnu Kamath questioned in parliament -Why PM Jawaharlal Nehru is so much disinterested about Netaji and why Indian govt is not arranging any investigation on Netaji's last disappearance?

    • In response PM  Nehru commented-There will be no benefit if India govt arrange a investigation committee.Only Japan govt can do it.

    •  7days later in 1955,6th oct at Sahid Minar a big meeting was called by Netaji Smarak Samiti. Shahnawaz was the chairman of this meeting, where following decisions were taken-

    1. A non-governmental committee will be formed to investigate on Netaji's disappearance.

    2. The money for this committee will be collected from the donation of common people.

    3. Netaji"s elder brother Suresh Chandra Bose will lead the committee.

Hearing this announcement, Indian govt became active & hurriedly organized a committee on 5th april,1956. Was it the fear of the real truth about Netaji might be revealed?

      ACTIVITIES OF THE COMMITTEE:

      3members lead the committee-

      Shahnawaz khan(chairman)

      Suresh Chandra Bose

      N S Maitra (ICS)

Only in four months the committee submitted their report. In the report the committee stated that Netaji died in Taihoku air crash & the ashes in Renkoji temple is of Netaji.

      VOICES RAISED AGAINST THE REPORT:

Several questions aroused soon after the submission of the report:

      DISSENTING REPORT

      • Suresh Candra Bose disagreed the report. It was said that Chief Minister Dr Bidhanchandra Roy tried to pursue Sureshbabu to agree with the report, but when Mr Roy failed, he tried to threat Sureshbabu. He was no more allowed to stay in Delhi & it was said by govt that due to emotion he cann't accept his brother's death. In 1956,11th nov Suresh Chandra published his views in ''dissenting report'' where he explained why he disagreed Shahnawaz committee's report.

EVENTS AFTER DECLARATION OF FORMING A NON-GOVT COMMITTEE AT SAHID MINAR

      • The dictators in Delhi got frightened when they heard that we are going to form a non-governmental inquiry committee. The reason for this fear may be probably that the committee may say that Netaji didn't died in plane crash. Moreover the committee will go through the British & American intelligence report-this was totally unacceptable to them. Prime Minister understood this may lead to revealing of all truth to the people. Moreover if the committee gives its verdict that Netaji haven't died then it will prove that Nehruji is telling lie. That's why the elite group in Delhi didn't kept quite.-Suresh Chandra Bose

      • After the declaration of the formation of non-governmental committee, Shahnawaz said Sureshbabu that he will discuss the matter with Nehruji. Then they will call for a big meeting where the other members of the committee will be announced. But actually, after the meeting with Nehruji, Shahnawaz disappeared from the public & the proposed "big meeting" never happened. Viewers,.......do anybody needs clarification for this?

      ATTITUDE OF THE COMMITTEE?

      •  The first line of Shahnawaz committee's report starts life this-"During his life time....", meaning when Netaji was alive. Look the committee had already taken its decision before publishing its verdict that Netaji was dead.

      • It is very strange that there was no person attached in practicing the law was among the members of the Shahnawaz committee. Many at that time proposed the name of Dr. Radhabinod Pal who worked as judge in Tokyo War Crimes Tribunal. He had two advantage; firstly he could cross examine the witnesses whether they are telling truth or not & secondly he knew many secret informations of war during working in the tribunal. But Indian Govt rejected his name saying that as he was in the region during & after the war, so he has already made up his mind to a decision on Taihuku accident. Viewers,.....This is called POLITICS!

                                 (RADHABINOD PAL)

      • The Shahnawaz committee did its inquiry sitting in India. Why didn't they went to the place like Taihuku, Renkoji temple etc  in person? Why didn't they contact to the govt of those places to know there views?

      • When the issue is so big (still now controversy is there)- why the committee gave its verdict in so hurry?

      • Above all- the committee never showed any real interest in finding the truth.

      SHAHNAWAZ AS A PERSON

      • In his biography, Shahnawaz told that he used to think that as his ancestors of 3 generations have served the British, he should not go against them.

      • In his early days in imprisonment  by the Japanese, he tried so that no Indian can join AZAD HIND FAUZ. But when a special guerrilla regiment of azad hind fauz was made & Shahnawaz got the chance to lead them, he joined AHF.

      • Congress govt didn't allow any fighter of AHF to join national army after independence. They were not honored & all efforts were directed to eliminate their memory from people's mind. The only exception was Shahnawaz. He promoted himself from Colonel to the rank of Major General. He was elected in the parliament in Congress's ticket. Then he became Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Transport and Railway. Even lastly he became a central minister.

      • All this clearly shows that Shahnawaz was heavily prized from cong govt. No need to clarify reason.

In 1978,28th aug PM from Janata Party Mr Morarji Desai dismissed the report of Shahnawaz committee

WAS NETAJI REALLY KILLED IN THE PLANE-CRASH IN 1945?

To find out the answer, Indian Govt. so far have appointed 3 commissions to investigate. The latest of them was MUKHERJEE COMMISSION which is clamied to be the most authentic, evidence based & free from political influence so far.

Set up in 1999 after 6 years of extensive investigation, on 14 November 2005, the Commission published   the following conclusions :

    • Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose is dead.
    • He did not die in the plane crash, as alleged.
    • The ashes in the Japanese temple are not of Netaji.
    • In the absence of any clinching evidence a positive answer cannot be given.

But the Govt. shamefully rejected the above report without any reasonable basis in 2006.

    PREFACE

IN THE STRUGGLE FOR INDIAN INDEPENDENCE, NETAJI AND GANDHIJI ARE TWO PIONEERS OF TWO PATHS, THEIR ULTIMATE GOAL BEING THE SAME. AFTER INDEPENDENCE AND AFTER HIS DEATH, GANDHIJI GOT THE RESPECT.BUT DID OUR NETAJI GOT THE RESPECT HE DESERVED?

OFFICIALLY,IT WAS TOLD THAT HE WAS KILLED IN A PLANE-CRASH IN TAIHOKU ( PRESENT DAY TAIPEI ) ON 18TH AUGUST,1945.BUT, WAS IT REALLY TRUE?

MANY EVIDENCES TELL OTHERWISE.HE WAS NOT KILLED,RATHER REMAINED ALIVE ESCAPING TO OTHER COUNTRY ( PROBABLY USSR ).

BUT AFTER INDEPENDENCE,SOME OF OUR POLITICIANS USED THEIR ALL POWER TO METHODICALLY ERASE NETAJI'S NAME & WORKS FROM THE HISTORY OF INDIAN STRUGGLE FOR INDEPENDENCE AND FROM PEOPLE'S MIND.
